BlueQube

Ultra High Resolution surveying down to prospect level

BlueQube is a high resolution airborne and marine gravity gradiometry imaging tool that can provide an improved picture of your subsurface geology

You need answers

  • I only have sparse 2D seismic and I don't have the budget for a full 3D seismic survey.
  • I have seismic imaging problems with salt and basalt.
  • I want to focus my seismic budget in the area it is going to be most effective.

In filling 2D

Infilling 2DThe black line is the seismic line, the interrupted black line is the fault trend, and the interrupted red line is the incorrect interpretation based only on seismic data.

Many areas of the world have sparse 2D seismic data and sometimes it can take a leap of faith or imagination to join these lines together. A 3D seismic survey could well be the answer but with exploration budgets strained you need to look to new technologies that link the 2D to give a better interpretation of the subsurface and provide a much needed 3D perspective to your geology.

BlueQube high resolution gravity gradiometry has been proven to successfully infill 2D seismic data allowing interpreters to make informed decisions on what the geology really looks like.

The image on the right shows an example from the Gulf of Mexico and demonstrates BlueQube's ability to map faults between the existing 2D seismic data. The growth fault systems were well mapped on the seismic data but were unconstrained between seismic lines. The BlueQube data provided an independent measurement of the spatial location and geometry of faults and salt features, resulting in increased confidence in velocity model building and subsequent depth imaging and regional interpretation.

Overcoming Seismic Imaging Problems

Even the best seismic data often fails to deliver in complex geological situations. This can leave you with uncertainty over your prospects and drilling locations. Salt, basalt and thrust belts in particular can prove extremely challenging.

By complementing seismic surveys with the high-resolution imaging capabilities of BlueQube, we can deliver the clarity you need to validate or verify your prospects and remove seismic uncertainty. This then allows interpreters to choose drill locations and rank prospects with greater confidence.

Completing the Picture

In the majority of cases no one data set can provide a 100% risk reduction and most projects require information from complementary techniques. The key to using these techniques lies in the integration of the data.

BlueQube is more than just data capture, it is the workflow and methodologies required to truly use a multi-disciplinary approach to resolve geologic uncertainty and provide a more complete geologic picture.
