About Data Management

FieldBank

FieldBankTM is a global data bank for gravity and magnetic data, developed by ARKeX and the British Geological Survey.

FieldBank allows you rapid access to all gravity and magnetic data holdings in your area of interest via your web browser.

Exploration companies outsource their gravity and magnetic data management to FieldBank. Once the proprietary data is loaded into FieldBank, it can be searched and retrieved through a secure web page by your company members.

ARKeX and BGS can take care of all your data management tasks, such as the organisation, conditioning and loading of exploration data. This frees you from this laborious work and ensures that the data are readily accessible on demand from the secure central database server.

FieldBank gives you:

  • Improved access to your data
  • Centralized storage of your data
  • The ability to share data with other company members or third parties
  • Cost effective data management

Access to third party data through FieldBank

In addition to being a data management tool, FieldBank can be used as a shop front to sell your data or to buy data from other companies.

Various seismic acquisition companies store selected speculative gravity and magnetic data acquired with non-exclusive seismic surveys in FieldBank. FieldBank therefore allows subscribers to evaluate their own data coverage and easily see how these can be augmented by vendor data.

Seismic companies that display their data in FieldBank include:

  • Petroleum Geoservices (PGS) EAME,
  • WesternGeco EAME,
  • WesternGeco ASA.
  • CGGVeritas Inc.

FieldBank is also used by The Petroleum Affairs Division of Ireland (PAD) and Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR – formerly the DTI) in the UK as a means to display released gravity and magnetic data. For more information on non exclusive data, see the Data Sales section.

POSC Compatible

FieldBank holds gravity and magnetic data in relational database tables, which are POSC (Petrotechnical Open Software Corporation) compliant. This will ensure compatibility of the data with all other data or applications which adhere to similar standards.
