Gravity and Magnetic Interpretation
Understanding petroleum system uncertainties
ARKeX's conventional gravity and magnetic interpretation is all about reducing the uncertainty in your structural model. Whether you’re having seismic imaging issues, or you're looking for confirmation from an independent dataset, ARKeX can use potential field data to help constrain your model.
A simple approach to reducing the uncertainty in a model is to introduce, and satisfy, additional constraints. Gravity and magnetic data are particularly suited to providing independent constraints for a model. The integration of seismic, gravity and magnetic data reduces interpretational ambiguity inherent when they are interpreted in isolation.
ARKeX's interpretation delivers a consistent Earth model that integrates all of the available geological, geophysical and petrophysical data. Working closely with your own exploration team, ARKeX ensures that the maximum value of information is extracted from your data.
How ARKeX can help
Simple 3D modelling workflow2D/3D modelling workflow
- Build structural model using client-supplied seismic data
- Assign physical properties to model (density/susceptibility)
- Forward-calculate response from model
- Compare calculated response to observed
- Adapt model to minimise difference (both structure and properties)
Salt mapping and modelling
The high seismic velocity of salt can cause problems with seismic imaging and migration. However, due to its low relative density it is an ideal target for gravity modelling. ARKeX can use gravity data to map the distribution of salt bodies. The size and shape of the salt bodies can be modelled in either 2D or 3D, which can then be fed back into the seismic processing.
